Opening Ceremony

CBSE Far East Zone Football Tournament 2023 was kicked off with a grand opening ceremony on 26th October 2023 at the M.G.M. Senior Secondary School’s Football Ground. This football extravaganza provided a platform to the participating young talents of the CBSE Far East Zone to showcase their athletic ability and team spirit.
The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony was Dr. Dinesh Namdeo, Director, Physical Education, Hemchand Yadav University, Durg. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were the CBSE observer Razia Mohammad, The Vice-president of the school Rev. Fr. Shaji M. Baby, Assistant Vicar Rev. Fr. Shinu Cherian, Honourable Correspondent Mr. K.C. Mathew, School and Church managing committee members, Principal Incharge, Mr. Shaji Chacko and Incharges of both the shifts. All the teaching and non teaching staff and students also attended the function.
The opening ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and prayer song. Welcome address was delivered by Mr. M.C. Benjamin, HOD, Department of Physical Education, M.G.M. School. The CBSE Flag was unfurled by the chief guest which was followed by a march past by the participating teams.
Soumya Singh Captain of M.G.M. Football team administered the oath to the ten participating teams for a sincere and honest participation. The participating teams were Brahmavid The Global School Bhatagaon, D.P.S. Bhilai, Infocus India Public School West Bengal, K.P.S. Raipur, KPS International School Naya Raipur, N.H. Goel Worlds School Raipur, S.E.C Railway Higher Secondary School Bilaspur,
St. Xaviers High School Bilaspur, Weidner Memorial Senior Secondary School Mahasamund and the host school M.G.M. Senior Secondary School Sector-6 Bhilai.
Addressing the audience the chief guest congratulated the organizers of this tournament. He motivated all the players and said that Sports plays an important role in developing a healthy mind and body. One must not worry about winning or losing. He wished all the teams’ success and officially declared the tournament open.
Principal In charge Mr. Shaji Chacko in his address commended the players and inspired them to learn team work and stated that both victory and defeat should encourage us to do better.
The Gymnastic display by the students was a spectacular sight and was appreciated by one and all. The chief guest was presented with a memento and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Alif Shazama.
The matches scheduled on the opening day were between S.E.C Railway Higher Secondary School Bilaspur and Weidner Memorial Senior Secondary School Mahasamund in which Railway school won by 7 goals. The second match was between DPS Bhilai and N.H. Goel Worlds School Raipur in which DPS School won by 1 goal. The Third match was between KPS International School Naya Raipur and KPS Raipur in which KPS Raipur won by 12 goals. The last match of the opening day was scheduled between M.G.M. Senior Secondary School, Sector-6, Bhilai and Brahmavid The Global School, Bhatagaon. The host M.G.M. Sr. Sec. School Bhilai emerged as the winner by 14 goals. This vibrant five day tournament promises to be exciting and competitive.

Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony of CBSE Far East Zone Girls Football Tournament took place on 30th October 2023 at the lush green football ground of M.G.M. Senior Secondary School, Sector-6, Bhilai. This football extravaganza proved a platform for the young talents, who participated to showcase their skills and team spirit. The five-day tournament starting from 26th October to 30th October was a mega event featuring ten Schools – Brahmavid The Global School Bhatagaon, D.P.S. Bhilai, Infocus India Public School West Bengal, K.P.S. Raipur, K.P.S. International School Naya Raipur, N.H. Goel Worlds School Raipur, S.E.C. Railway Higher Secondary School Bilaspur, St. Xaviers High School Bilaspur, Weidner Memorial Senior Secondary School Mahasamund and the host School M.G.M. Senior Secondary School, Bhilai.
The Chief Guest His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius – Manager Bishop graced the closing ceremony with his benign presence. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Mr. R.D Sao Ex Refree FIFA, the CBSE observer Madam Razia Mohammad, The Vice President of the School Rev. Fr. Shaji M. Baby, Assistant Vicar Rev. Fr. Shinu Cherian, Honourable Correspondent Mr. K.C. Mathew, School and Church managing committee members, Principal In charge Mr. Shaji Chacko and Incharges of both the shifts. All the teaching, non teaching staff and students also attended the function.
A group song by the School choir gave a kick start to the programme. The welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Swapna Chacko. Principal Incharge Mr. Shaji Chacko presented a report on the CBSE Football Tournament. He thanked all the participants for their enthusiasm and passion for the game of football. Addressing the gathering at the closing event the Chief Guest His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius – Manager Bishop blessed one and all. He appreciated the organizers of the tournament and encouraged the participants by saying that sports & games are the integral part of overall development of individuals and sportsman spirit and teamwork are the key to success.
The teams for the final match were introduced. The final match kicked off between host team M.G.M. Senior Secondary School Sector-6 Bhilai and Infocus India Public School West Bengal in which Infocus India Public School West Bengal emerged victorious by 10 goals.
Group dance during the half time was a spectacular sight and was appreciated by the gathering. During the prize distribution ceremony the distinguished guests were presented with mementos. Both the teams were given trophies and medals for showing exemplary performance. The Runners up trophy was awarded to M.G.M. Senior Secondary School Sector-6 Bhilai. The Winning team Infocus India Public School West Bengal proudly lifted the Winner trophy. Sanchita Biswas and Sania Parveen of Infocus School were awarded Player of the Tournament and Best Scorer Trophy respectively. Harshita Sahu of MGM School was awarded as the Best Defender. Tanishka Ghosh of DPS Risali and Sakshi of KPS Raipur bagged the Upcoming Players trophy.
The tournament was declared closed by lowering the CBSE Flag. The vibrant tournament concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Swati Balaji
