MGM Senior Secondary School Sector 6 Bhilai hosted the CBSE cluster II Volleyball Tournament 2024 that brought together empowering students, managers and coaches representing different schools from Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh reflecting inspiration, entertainment and empowerment. The eminent Guests for the event were Shri Vinod Nair, Shaheed Pankaj Vikram Awardee and Shri Rambaran Kori, National Volleyball Player, Volleyball Federation of India. The event was graced by the eminent School Managing Committee members, the School Council members and staff.
The four-day event began on 16th September 2024 with an opening ceremony and will conclude on 19th September 2024. Total 84 Teams participated in the Cluster II Volleyball Tournament which would be held in three phases for boys and girls – Under 14, Under 17 and Under 19.
The opening ceremony commenced with a heartfelt prayer song ‘Showers of Blessing’, followed by a warm welcome song. The motivational song ‘Aashayein’ set the tone for the event filling the audience with hope and enthusiasm. The CBSE flag was hoisted by the distinguished dignitaries and officials who were escorted by the host school Principal, Shri T. Anto Jacob. The highlight of the event was a powerful dance performance by class 9 & Class 11 girls enthusing vitality and emphasising women’s equality and girl power respectively. The event was officially declared open by the respective guests. A solemn ceremony followed, wherein the head boy of the host school Pratham Mittal administered the pledge to the participants.

Bhilai, 17th September 2024 — MGM Senior Secondary School, Bhilai, is celebrating a significant achievement as its girls’ volleyball team has secured a spot in the semifinals of the CBSE Cluster II Volleyball Tournament 2024. The tournament, which saw participation from a total of 84 teams, including 59 boys’ teams and 25 girls’ teams, has been a fiercely competitive event.
The MGM Girls’ Team showcased their exceptional skill and determination, winning two consecutive matches. On 16th September 2024, the team defeated Bal Bharti Public School, NTPC, Sipat, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh,
by 2-0 points in a “Best of 3” match format. Their winning streak continued on 17th September 2024, when they secured another 2-0 victory against Techno India Group Public School, Siliguri, West Bengal. With this triumph, the MGM girls’ team has confidently advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.
On the boys’ side, MGM School’s team also delivered an outstanding performance on 16th September 2024. They won their match against Milestone Academy, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, by 2-0 points in a “Best of 3” match, further adding to the school’s success in the tournament.
A total of 19 matches were played by the boys’ teams and 4 matches by the girls’ teams on 16th September 2024, highlighting the high level of participation and excitement surrounding this year’s tournament.
MGM Senior Secondary School is proud of its athletes and their continued excellence in sports. The school community eagerly awaits the upcoming semifinal match and is hopeful for further victories.
