58th Annual Day Celebration-Anugraha 2024 at MGM Secondary Senior School

The second  day of  the mega Annual Day Celebrations ‘Anugraha’2024  at M.G.M Senior Secondary School, Sec -6 Bhilai was conducted for  the Senior Classes 8 -12 and Pre – Primary Wing with 375 and 260 participants respectively  on 16th November 2024 in the Open auditorium of the school.

M.G.M Sector -6 Bhilai expresses sincere gratitude to His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius, the Manager Bishop and President of M.G.M Senior Secondary School to have graced the Annual Celebration on 14th November 2024.  We are indeed indebted to have Thirumenis’s   blessings for the 58th Annual Day Celebrations.  The celebration which marked the 58th Annual Function of the school was woven around the theme ‘Mercy Drops’ with vibrancy and resplendence.

The entire school wore a marvellous look .The impressive, wonderful display by students was witnessed by dignitaries, parents and children. The eminent guests for the function were Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Raipur Division, South East Central Railway and Shri A.K Chakraborty, Executive Director, Materials Management, Bhilai Steel Plant.      


The other distinguished guests who endowed their blessings for the evening were the Vicar of MGO Cathedral and Vice -President of the school, Rev. Fr.Shaji M. Baby; Honorary Correspondent of the school Shri K.C. Mathew; Asst Vicar of M.G.O. Cathedral Rev. Fr. Subin K.Daniel; respected fathers and sisters. The eminent school committee members –school treasurer C.A.Roshan  V. Koshy;
Shri T.S. Daniel; Shri Jacob Mathew; Shri P.V Shajan; Shri Jacob George; Shri Climis P.I; Shri Biju John;
Shri K P Thomas; Shri Bhavesh Sam and the church secretary Shri  Babu.T. George along with the church treasurer Shri P.G.Chacko also graced the programme with their presence.

The function was also graced by the illustrious presence of several other distinguished invitees, the Incharges Ms. Somy Sajeev, Ms. Swapna Chacko, Ms. Minu Jacob Thomas, Ms. Uma Kumar,  Ms. S. Geena, staff, parents and students.

The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the lamp and prayer song to the accompaniment of an invocation followed by an instrumental Jugalbandi by the students of classes 8 to 12 . A warm welcome was accorded to the dignitaries and other invitees with a beautiful welcome song.

  Ms. Anitha Rajan, Head Mistress, First Shift courteously greeted the august gathering with a welcome address. This was followed by an adorable dance performed by 27 students of classes 8 to 11 on the song ‘Jiya Jale’ to accord a warm reception to the elite assemble.


Rev. Fr. Shaji.M.Baby , the Vicar of M.G.O  Cathedral and   Vice President of the  School appreciated the vigor and enthusiasm of the participants. He accorded a cordial welcome to the distinguished gathering  on behalf of the school.  He stressed upon the theme of the play ’Mercy Drops’ and said that mercy is the greatest of human values. He said that compassion and grace are the greatest symbols that touch mankind and talked about blending tradition with education.

Entailing the presidential address, the Annual Report on academic and co-curricular activities was delivered by the Principal Mr. T. Anto Jacob. He notably highlighted the stupendous calibre of meritorious students of the session 2023-2024. He appreciated the students who had put in their valuable time for preparing the visuals and backdrops for the function.


The programme was an amalgamation of various hues befitting the theme ‘Mercy Drops’ wondrously wound by the students from Secondary and Higher Secondary School. The thematic show of talent, imagination and organisation was the essence of the evening. The  scripted narrative ‘Mercy Drops’  thoughtfully written-down ,  programmed  and directed by the Principal Mr. T. Anto Jacob was a unique  experience that dealt with empathy not only towards kindred but also to others. The tiny tots who were an integral part of the dance drama captivated the gathering with their sweet charming moves and lively, brilliant performances. Their depiction of ‘Cinderella’ in colourful attire enchanted and transported the gathering to the world of fairy tales where patience, endurance and goodness wins over evil. The handsome prince and his lady love Cinderella won the hearts of all.


The senior students danced in jubilation to the tune of Bollywood songs with colourful props. The theme based dances which conveyed the message that “Mercy is the compassionate treatment towards those in distress, especially when it is within one’s power to eradicate pain and rise over all biases”captivated the guests. The four hour long Cultural Show held the audience in awe and left them enlightened as the show slowly progressed. The function that included the following dances- Colonial Cousins, Abhi Mujhme Kahin, Bhagwan hai Kaha  Re Tu, PallapalliThirupalli, Khwaja mere Khwaja, Guru’s of Peace, GhoomarGhoomar, Badal Pe Paon Hai, NachungaGaunga and Happy Ending by Class 12 Students proved to be a grand finale.

The Annual Prize distribution Function was a moment of pride and honour for all the winners and achievers of the school.  Students were awarded prizes for their excellence in academic as well as co –curricular areas.  . It was a commendable moment for the school when the Principal congratulated and awarded Rehan Farishta batch of 2024   with the Mar Theodosius Memorial Merit award. Pratyusha Biswas of class VI was endowed with a special cash prize for her contribution to the preparation of the Invitation card for the Annual function. Manasvi Nag of class XI and Khushi Jain of class VIII also received special cash awards for their excellent paintings. Their paintings were graciously donated to the respected guests.

Addressing the gathering, the distinguished guest  Shri A.K. Chakraborty ,  stated that the students have smartly carved a niche for themselves. He requested teachers to teach students how to think rather than what to think. He emphasised the importance of reading books and asked students to ask questions to   polish  their  inquisitiveness  as making mistakes are imperative for a  student’s progress.         

Shri Sanjeev Kumar in his address congratulated the Principal Mr. T.Anto Jacob for conducting a superb show. He continued by saying that a strong education is based upon a sound foundation and that curiosity and discipline are the foundational qualities for a strong beginning. He promised students that he would be happy to invite them to workshops conducted at his place of work wherein children   could get hands on experience. Further, the Guests and other dignitaries were honoured with mementos.

Soon after the honouring ceremony of the distinguished Guests and other dignitaries, the Cultural Programme by the students continued. The venue reverberated with thunderous applause, gleaming faces that exchanged appreciative nods as the audience witnessed the perfection and extravaganza of the show. The exhilarating show was an unforgettable experience and left a lasting impression on the minds of everyone present.

The Gala Event was compered and conducted by 31students from the senior category and the Pre-Primary wing. The excellent narrative composed by the Principal and guided by teachers culminated with a Vote of Thanks by the First Shift Incharge Ms. Swapna Chacko followed by the National Anthem.
