58th Annual Day Celebration-Anugraha 2024 at MGM Secondary Senior School
The 58th Annual Day – Anugraha 2024 of the Second Shift for Classes 1 to 7 of M.G.M Senior Secondary School, Sec -6, Bhilai based on the theme ‘Dreams and Aspirations’ was celebrated on 14th November 2024 amidst an atmosphere of revelry and rejoicing at the open auditorium of the school. The entire school was dazzlingly bedecked for the occasion. The stunning display of talent by the 1,200 students was witnessed by dignitaries, parents and children in large number.
Being the joyous occasion of Children’s Day, the gala event was graced by the benevolent presence of His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius, the Manager Bishop and President of M.G.M Senior Secondary School. Shri Prabhanjay Chaturvedi, Ghazal and Bhajan Artist graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The other distinguished guests who endowed their blessings for the evening were the Vicar of MGO Cathedral and Vice -President of the school Rev. Fr. Shaji M. Baby; Honorary Correspondent of the school Shri K.C. Mathew; Asst Vicar of M.G.O. Cathedral Rev. Fr. Subin K. Daniel; respected fathers and sisters. The eminent school committee members – school treasurer CA. Roshan. V. Koshy; Shri T.S. Daniel; Shri Jacob Mathew; Shri P.V Shajan; Shri Jacob George; Shri Climis P.I; Shri Biju John; Shri K P Thomas; Shri Bhavesh Sam and the church secretary Shri Babu T. George along with the church treasurer Shri P. G. Chacko also graced the programme with their presence.
The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the lamp to the accompaniment of an invocation.
The welcome address was presented by Ms. Somy Sajeev Head Mistress of Second Shift. The choir consisting of 25 students from classes 4 to 7 presented the welcome song ‘Shabashian’ and inspired one and all present with their musical rendition.
A welcome dance ‘Swagatam’ presented by 31 girls from classes 5 to 7 enraptured the audience.
In his address, the Honorary Correspondent Shri. K.C. Mathew expressed his pleasure at being present on this glorious occasion. He extolled the results of the students in curricular and co-curricular activities and said that the school’s enviable reputation was the result of the untiring efforts of the dedicated staff of the school. He concluded his address by complementing the efforts of the Principal and his dedicated faculty for rendering an invaluable service to the cause of education.
The Principal of the school, Mr. T. Anto Jacob extended a cordial welcome to the elite audience. In the annual report presented by the Principal, he highlighted the achievements of students in academics and co-curricular activities. He appreciated the students who had worked strenuously for preparing the e-invitation as well as preparing the visuals and backdrops for the function.
The program on the theme ‘Dreams and Aspirations’ was presented in the form of a dance drama. The scripted narrative thoughtfully penned, programmed and directed by the Principal Mr. T. Anto Jacob was a spell –binding dance and drama presentation that dealt with the ambitions and wishes of a group of children who were ragpickers. It conveyed the message that with passion and undaunted courage even the impossible could be achieved. The series of events in the dance drama started with a group of ragpickers who dream to perform in a dance competition but have no means to pay the registration fees. The real purport of the presentation was accentuated by inspiring characters playing the role of our erstwhile President of India A.P.J Abdul Kalam and Pakistani female education activist Malala Yousafzai. The program culminated with a cheerful closing where the ragpickers win the prize money by participating in the competition.
The comparers also apprised the audience about the glorious history of MGM talking about its legacy of 59 years. The mission and vision of the school was also elucidated along with the exponential growth of the school.
This was followed by the prize giving ceremony wherein meritorious students received prizes for their praiseworthy performance in academics and activities. The beautiful sketch by a student of class VI was presented to His Grace on behalf of the school.
His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius, the Manager Bishop and President of M.G.M Senior Secondary School welcomed the august gathering and cited the example of Shri Ratan Tata and his dream that inspired India. His Grace asked the students to dream to succeed and bring changes in the society.
Success stories of A.P.J Abdul Kalam and Shri Ratan Tata were inspiring models for children to believe in themselves and realise their dreams. His Grace praised the efforts of all working for the school and showered his blessings for the prosperity of the almanac mater. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries were honoured with mementos.
The colourful dances Brown girl in the Ring and Yuhi chala chal which transported the audience to a magical journey were charming interludes. The skilful rendition of Malala Yousafzai’s epic UN speech on Youth Education stole the show. All the dances including Ori chiraiya, Dil chahta hai, Ashayein, Har subha nayi, Dil ye ziddi hai to name a few and the spoken lines in the dramatic performance were appreciated and lauded by the onlookers.
The grand finale was a foot tapping and colourful dance number ‘Lakshmi’ that enchanted and carried the audience to a world of dreams and aspirations for a wonderful future. The lively, exuberant evening compered and conducted by the Middle School students, trained & mentored by the teachers drew to a close with a Vote of Thanks proposed by the Incharge Ms. Minu Jacob Thomas. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
