DAY 1 (15-12-2023) – PRIMARY WING
The 57th annual day celebrations, day 1 of MGM senior secondary school, sector 6, Bhilai, Jigyasa-2023, centered around the theme. “I need to learn” was conducted on the 15th December, 2023 in the school premises with great fervour and gusto.
His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of the Calcutta Diocese in his message congratulated the students and sent his best wishes for their future endeavours.
The occasion was also graced by Reverend Fr.Jacob Thomas, Vice President of school, Reverend Fr.Shinu Cherian, Assistant Vicar, Mr. K.C.Mathew, Honourable Correspondent of the school, shriroyGeorge,MGO cathedral secretary, shriDissiny Varghese, treasurer, school and church managing committee members and parents.
The function was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr.Aruna Palta by lightening the traditional lamp, with the guest of honour and all the other dignitaries. The students welcomed the guests with a melodious song. The head girl(2nd shift)Gunjan Gilani presented the welcome speech.
The honourable correspondent, Mr.K.C. Mathew wished the students a bright future.
The principal in charge, mr. Shaji Chacko, highlighted the achievements of students in various fields in the last academic year by presenting the annual school report.
Dr.ArunaPatla, the chief guest for the occasion addressed the gathering and appreciated the students for their performances. She stressed that students should utilize the time and understand the importance of time management.
The guest of honour Dr.P.B. Deshmukh, in his address gave a message to students to never fear failure and said that it is the duty of parents and teachers to instill confidence in the students. The momentos were presented to the chief guest and guest of honour.
The cultural extravaganza Jigyasa 2023 on the theme “I need to learn” commenced with a dance drama “jai jawan jai kissan” which was performed to express gratitudetowards the farmers and the jawans. The retro dance and the Christmas dance by the tiny tots, the western dance, the folk dances of various states, the sufi dance, the fusion dance were appreciated by all. The group songs enthralled the audience. But the dance “Salaam Kalam”- a tribute to Dr. A.P.J.AbdulKalam and a semi classical performance by students of classes 6 and 7 won the hearts of the august gathering.
The extravagant event concluded with the vote of thanks by head boy (2nd shift) RohitChandwani followed by the national anthem .
DAY 2 (16-12-2023) – SENIOR WING
The 57th Annual Day celebrations of the Senior Wing commenced in the evening of 16th December 2023 in the school premises of MGM Senior Secondary School,Sector-6. The school was bedecked in a befitting manner for this glorious occasion.
The other special dignitaries who graced the programme were: Rev. Fr. Jacob Thomas, Diocesan Secretary; Rev. Fr. Shaji M Baby, Vice President of the school; Rev. Fr. Shinu Cherian , Assistant Vicar MGO Cathedral Bhilai; Hon’ble Correspondent Shri KC Mathew; the Church and School Managing Committee; Principal Incharge Shri Shaji Chacko; Incharges –Mrs.Elizabeth Anita Rajan, Shri Akhil Tiwari, Shri Shaji Mathew, Mrs. Minu Jacob Thomas, PPW Incharge Mrs. Geena Shivan.The function was also graced by the illustrious presence of several other invitees, staff, parents and students.
The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the lamp to the accompaniment of an invocation followed by a welcome dance. A warm welcome was accorded to the dignitaries and other invitees.
Rev. Fr. Jacob Thomas, Diocesan Secretary presented the message of the Manager Bishop His Grace Alexious Mar Oeusebius, Metropolitan of Culcutta Diocese.
The Principal I/c Mr.Shaji Chacko welcomed the august gathering. In his Annual Report,the Principal placed forth the notable accomplishments of the school and students.
Speaking on this memorable occasion, the Chief Guest in his address expressed his pleasure at being present on the 57th Annual Day Celebrations of the school. He extolled the Principal I/c for his effort in encouraging the students to perform well in various spheres and added that the theme of the event meant that learning is a continuous process. He spoke that success is the result of persistent effort and sincerity. He concluded by appreciating the hard work put in by the students and teachers of the school.
The Cultural extravaganza began with an entrancing foot-tapping number by the tiny-tots from the Pre-Primary wing that brought forth the unity of our nation. A fusion dance symbolizing ‘West meets East’ was recreated by the children.
Students from classes VIII & IX presented a colorful rhythmic dance ‘Gratitude to 5 elements of Nature’ expressing the spirit of five elements of nature – earth, water,fire, air and space. An English skit performed by 19 students of classes IX and XI titled ‘Humanity’,recreated the important message of imbibing values at school and aiding people in need. A Hindi skit performed by 11 students of class IXon the topic ‘Vidhyarthi jeevan ki uljhanen aur sikhne ki chahat’ drew perception towards the fact that the desire to learn removes all barriers and challenges in acquiring knowledge. Students from class XI presented the essence of our theme through a dance drama. A solo song by Ishita Singh of Class XI and a motivational song by Shashwat Pandey of Class XII enraptured the audience. The fusion song and the group songs on the theme ‘Nature’ were charming interludes.
The folk dance by class XI students on ‘Vibrant India’ allured the audience.
The much awaited exuberant Christmas dance signaled the end of the cultural programme and the memorable function came to an end with the National Anthem.
The proceedings of the Annual Day were conducted by Daksh- Head Boy, HamnaZameer- Head Girl, Shreejesh K Nair- Deputy Head Boy, Sandra Sunil- Deputy Head Girl and students of classes XI and XII. They were guided and assisted by Ms. Swapna Chacko, PGT (Chemistry) & Mrs. Uma Kumar, PGT (English).
